"Any given image makes apparent his obvious talent for rendering everlasting life in his subject; all are extraordinary vignettes brimming with pure emotion." - Grace Ormonde
"His images are beyond the power of speech." - Rangefinder Magazine
"His emotional images taught us the new look of photojournalism." - WPPI Monthly
"My lasting memories are the spirit of the man that showed up to shoot this critically important client (Usher). Now, with years of friendship under our belt, I am still in awe and impressed with his inner man. I know that his personal conviction and acknowledgement of his enormous responsibility will never allow him to show up in the wrong state of mind. You see, his gifts and his calling outweighs whatever may be in disarray in his private world. Mike Colón wears his heart on his sleeve and shoots from the soul - a quality that is admirable but also scarce." - Diann Valentine

Early in his career, Nikon named Colón a "Legend Behind the Lens" and included his bio and work in its permanent archive. Mike is the youngest photographer to ever receive such recognition from Nikon. Shortly after, Nikon ran an ad campaign featuring Colón as the "veteran digital shooter" highlighting his early adoption of their pro DSLR wifi technology.
In 2008, Mike went on a speaking tour sponsored by Apple and Epson entitled "Master Your Craft" and sold out nine cities across the United States.
Colón is currently a Lexar Elite Photographer, one of only twenty photographers worldwide selected for this exclusive sponsorship program. He is also one of only twelve photographers chosen to sit on Apple's advisory panel for Aperture.
Desiring to put his platform in the photography community to good use, Mike promotes humanitarian organizations like Thirst Relief International, which has helped bring clean water to thousands in need over the last decade. In 2009, Colón led a group of photographers to Tanzania with Thirst Relief to raise funds and awareness for the organization. Top fashion designers Angel Sanchez, Ines DiSanto, and Adele Wechsler designed custom gowns for the benefit shoot in Tanzania which was later featured in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine. "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. For His mercy endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:34
"He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:8-11
